New Award For Monkey Puzzle Ware
We are very proud to announce that Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Ware has won the Ware Society Town Award for 2016.
Every two years the Ware Society makes an award for any development or project, completed in the preceding two years that has enhanced the appearance or amenity of the town.
The nursery is situated in the old Musley School building which had lain empty and derelict for the previous 10 years. The impressive Victorian brick-built period property with one of the few remaining fives court in the country, dates back to 1857 and was built by Elizabeth Chuck in memory of her late husband Maltster Edward Chuck.
Once the lease for the listed building had been secured, owner and operator Swati Gopisetti began the refurbishment with the intention of complementing the existing architectural features while creating a modern functional nursery setting.
The nursery which opened this summer now provides outstanding childcare for the community in a historical building steeped in educational traditions.
Swati commenting on the award said “We immediately knew that the old Musley School would make an ideal location for our nursery and being given the opportunity to bring a piece of Ware history back to life, providing a much needed educational facility while also adding to the aesthetic character of the town.
The Awards ceremony was held on Wednesday 30 November at the Ware Priory.
